From Active Duty to the NFL Sideline

Alexis Gloster’s journey is a testament to her versatility and drive. After serving five years on active duty in the Navy, she transitioned to the Navy Reserve. This shift provided her with the flexibility to pursue a different kind of dream: becoming a professional cheerleader. For Gloster, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, cheerleading has been a passion for as long as she can remember. She saw becoming an NFL cheerleader as an opportunity to share that passion on a massive stage while also positively impacting the community.

An Intense Audition and a Dream Realized

The path to the Jaguars' cheerleading squad, known as "The Roar," was not an easy one. Gloster competed against more than 300 candidates in a rigorous, multi-round audition process that spanned two weeks. She was required to learn and perform complex choreography under pressure, complete a series of interviews, and demonstrate her ability to stand out from the highly competitive group. When she was finally selected, the moment was incredibly special, validating all the hard work she had put in to reach her goal.

Balancing Two Demanding Roles

Now, with the NFL preseason underway, Gloster is focused on balancing her duties to both the Navy Reserve and the Jacksonville Jaguars. She credits her military background with helping her manage the demanding schedule. "It's definitely a balancing act," she says, "but the discipline and time management I've learned in the Navy help me stay on top of both."

Gloster’s story is about more than just a successful audition; it's about the powerful connection between her two worlds. She feels an immense sense of pride in wearing both the Navy and Jaguars uniforms, seeing them as symbols of teamwork, dedication, and heart. Her commanding officer, Captain Roger Dubé, has praised Gloster’s achievements, noting her potential to be a powerful example for other Reservists who want to pursue their dreams while still serving.

Gloster hopes her story will motivate others to chase all of their passions, no matter how different they may seem.
